The United States Constitution was constructed from a set of rules, also known as amendments. These were written with the intention of securing the basic rights of all United States citizens. It usually serves as an outline for the laws of the land by dictating the powers of the people and what is acceptable under the watch of the United States government. The history behind these amendments began in 1789 when it was proposed and drafted by James Madison. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, as part of the first ten amendments contained in the Bill of Rights. To further build on this point, the state of Florida clearly defines that everyone within Florida is also in the Militia. â€Å"The militia consists of all able-bodied citizens of this state and all other able-bodied persons who have declared their intention to become citizens.†(The Florida Senate) Meaning that regardless of gender or race, every person who is a citizen or intends to become a citizen is considered a part of that militia. This theory, which claims that the second amendment was written for the military, is incorrect. The collective rights theory infringes and undermines the rights of the militia. Thinking back to how this country was founded, the colonists fought a revolution against the Crown in order to gain independence. A shadow revolutionary government was formed and Militias were trained to prepare for armed conflict.
